My local club had a open day on the weekend and needless to say the track was fast racing was sick and weather was good!! Not only did we have few close clubs come down but had a few QLD rides come down to enjoy the relaxed NSW atmosphere.
Racing was Sunday with 13 riders in Pro open men and a total of 200 riders all up over the weekend. I started off the Sunday with a bit of bad luck in my first race un clipping from my pedal out of the gate as i was about to whole shot race one! I got it together chased them down and not sure on the finish i think it was fourth (?) but i chased down 3rd (?) which was 5 bike lengths in front so i done alright!
Race 2 had come before i new it and was time to warm up again, I come out a little slow getting held behind and having to make a high low move first turn to get past. i finished 4th.
Race 3 was alot better for me coming out quick and hungry for a good lap heading down into turn 1 i slotted into 2nd behind Corey Gould from QLD and followed him from there not pushing it to hard. I finished 2nd.
Race 4 and final race before finals, I put together another good lap behind Corey finishing 2nd.
These last few laps had put me in a decent position for the final getting 6th gate pick, I ended up lane 6 knowing i had to come out strong if i were to stand a chance, I come out pretty well down straightaway 1 being 6th into turn 1, making that high low move again i slotted up equal with 4th & 5th, Having to hold my line coming into turn 2 i was a little low without not much speed for straight 3 slotting back into 6th, The charge was on and still had plenty of legs left i railed the 4th and final turn and was hooking down the last straight pulling equal 5th so the drag was on only missing out by half a wheel on 5th i ended up 6th.
Over all i am extremely happy with the way i rode on the weekend considering i had some doubts after race 1 wondering what was install next.. I moved on and re focused and just relaxed. I new what i had to do so i ticked he boxes as the day went on and made a decent few laps.
Training has been going well, Feeling fitter and stronger and more confident already which is a good sign.
Next race is Tamworth in 2 weeks which is a state series round.
Would like to thank Sports Vault Australia for allowing me to keep my racing up to date with everyone.
