Penny Lomas - Post Comp: What's next & Who are you?

Hi Fitness Friends!
If any of you have competed you will know the slight anticlimax post show. Or even any event, a wedding or photoshoot? After all the hype and everything in your life revolves around that day, after that day is done, what do you do with your life?
Hmmmmm it feels like there is no purpose any more?
What have i been up to?
With my competition season up in the air, I cannot decide when and where to compete next so instead of making the clear-cut decision I have spent 3 weeks post competition plodding along aimlessly dieting without a goal one day and half heartedly training without intention the next.
I know I need to eat clean and I know I need to train, but why? What for? So in this mindset no good can come from a workout, true? So I decided to take 1 full week off training. Yes, 7 straight days. I caved. I lasted 4days. Biting my nails in anticipation I hit a cheeky legs session.
So instead of letting myself become complacent I jetted off to QLD a few weekends ago for a photo shoot with my friends at Oxygen magazine, WOW what a shoot, we got some awesome shots, so stay tuned to Oxygen Magazine for articles and workouts from me with brand spanking new photos to go with them!
The week before this shoot, I had a photo shoot with my sponsors, Ultimate Performance Supplements, a complete 360 to the Oxygen shoot. This one was a lean, mean, tough training one. I cannot wait for the pics to be released. You will love them!
The trip to QLD was just what I needed to stay grounded to my roots and what I am about. My first Oxygen Magazine shoot is where it all started 3years ago. WOW what a 3years it has been.
What’s next?
I am driven by goals, by deadlines, by a target. So without any of this, I didn’t know what is next to come, what to aim for. I’m sure that many of you can relate to this, sometimes in winter we can become down in the dumps about not moving forward. So instead of thinking about what’s next, I have changed my goal and purpose to be “eating clean and training for maintenance” – this is much more sustainable.
Who are you?
So instead of thinking about where I am heading, I needed to think about WHO I AM. Penny as a person.
I was in need of a heart to heart with my amazing mentor and one of the most influential women in my life both personally and professionally, Lindy Olsen. Lindy has a way of speaking with such clarity and assurance that you are instantly uplifted and driven to be better, no, not better, the best! The best you can be! So on the plane on the way home to Melbourne I pulled out my laptop and typed my core values.
I challenge you to do this today for yourself. Think about WHO you are, not what you do, what you believe, what you feel, how you act, or what you love, No…….WHO ARE YOU? If you still struggle with this challenge simply think about 3 values that you would like to do/ currently do.
For example, Who is Penny Lomas?
I am balance, health and fitness.
Self development and growth will come when you identify who you are today and where you want to go tomorrow.
Try it today:
“WHO are you?”
One of my goals is to rip down my website and relaunch it, I figured this is a great little project for me post comp. So stay tuned for that! If you have any feedback or suggestions as to what you would like to see more or less of in the new website, please send them through to me.
Yours in good health,
Pen
