Training
We are in a pretty heavy training block at the moment as we are gearing up for a London test event called the “London Cup” which is a an event ran in simulation to the Olympics, testing the Olympic venue out. The team has been making significant progress throughout this block and has been something that has been really exciting to be apart of. It’s been a pretty demanding regime mentally and physically as the “D day” for final selection looms closer. And for me i have been working on the parts of my game which need the most work on and mixing it in with the parts of my game which i am quite confident with. I have found i have made some real progress in these areas, which has been a massive confidence booster.
Recovery Sessions
We have Wednesday afternoons off which i try to make sure is a time of rest by putting on a movie and chilling out once i’m home and the day is done. Also a few of us have taken the opportunity to take group guitar lesson’s, which have been really fun and refreshing and seem to lighten the mood as mid week always seems to be the rough end of the week.
Injuries
As for my foot injury, things have been travelling really well and i have been happy with the way my body has held up on my return to international hockey.
Mental Preparation
The AIS support staff have been really good in this crazy time in our program. For me it’s getting by these next few months in regards to my foot injury and going from there as to what lies ahead for my future.
Funny Situations
I’ve had a few embarrassing blonde moments at training and i think i can save myself the embarrassment again by not sharing, but i think its a good sign that i've ben training hard to the point of mental exhaustion. Well my excuse anyhow!!
Movies and Music
Saw Zac Efforns new movie “The Lucky One” wasn’t completely overwhelmed by it but a good perve none the less!
And music wise at the moment really enjoying Miike Snows new album and just dug out a recent album, Lana Del Rey and giving that plenty more air time.
