Matt: 3rd show in just over a month, 26 weeks of dieting, how hard was it staying on track for this last show?

Mark: I was definitely over dieting and having to go over the whole deplete and load process all over again for the third time in less than 6 weeks, but knowing that it was the last time I’d be doing it for a while helped me keep a positive mind frame.

Matt: All worth though, taking out the under 90kg Mr Australasia title?

Mark: Definitely all worth it. I really wanted to come away from this competitive season with a first place trophy, and I was extremely happy to be doing it defending my title against such strong competition.

Matt: Tough competition coming up against Bryce in the under 90s?

Mark: I was a little bit worried about going up against Bryce after seeing the condition he was in when he won the NABBA Overalls a couple of weeks ago. We heckled each other via Facebook quite a bit leading up to the show, and he definitely brought his A GAME on the day. He was an extremely tough competitor to beat, and I would imagine that the scores would have had us looking extremely close to a decision going either way.

Matt: How does it feel to have defended your title?

Mark: It is the first title I have tried to defend in consecutive years, so it feels great to know that I still had what it takes to be the best in my weight category

Matt: What was the first thing you ate after the show?

Mark: Chocolate. And lots of it.

Matt: Have you set foot in the gym or done any cardio besides walking from the fridge to the couch?

Mark: I relaxed the day after the show, and got straight back into my cardio and weight training the day after. I use the time after my shows to really take advantage of my rebound when my body is at such an anabolic state. I feel bigger and stronger than ever and use that to kick start my off season training regime

Matt: Do you think they should have an overall?

Mark: I think every National title should have an overall so that only one person can truly call themselves Mr Australia OR Australasia. See an overalls at the end of the day adds so much more excitement to the show, and keeps bums on seats right till the end.

Matt: Athletes all go through times where they enjoy a certain training session over others, what body part did you enjoy training most leading into the shows and what was your least favourite?

Mark: Love training back, and really started to enjoy training shoulders which used to be the body part I would least like to train.

Matt: What are the plans for you from here?

Mark: Definitely keen to represent Australia overseas somewhere again. If given the opportunity I would really like to experience the Arnold Amateurs held in Europe.
