Matt: How does it feel to be named on the team and going to the 2012 London Olympics?
Rachel: Pretty exciting! I’ve trained for so long to finally have a chance to fulfil my dream.
Matt: All those training sessions have finally paid off?
Rachel: I hope so... still haven’t finished what I started yet, but I can defiantly feel like it is paying off
Matt: A team of 10 divers to head over to the Olympics, how do you think the team will go?
Rachel: The perfect 10 team! I’m so lucky to be apart of such a wonderful group of athletes. I believe the team has real potential and the opportunity to bring home a few medals.
Matt: Will your training differ at all now from what you have been doing?
Rachel: Not from here on in no, we have been training really hard non stop for most of the year so this schedule will stay the same until we head of to London (with a trip to Spain in the middle)
Matt: What type of recovery work will you be doing in the lead-up to keep your body refreshed and performing at optimal levels.
Rachel: Everyday I am doing recovery. After a big session I always wear my compression garments to try reduce any chance that I may be sore the next day. I also ice injuries regularly and stretch out after training. Maintaining physio and massage is such a must do. I also believe it’s important to eat well so the body can recover more efficiently.
Matt: What is your favourite cheat meal?
Rachel: Red Rooster Flayva wraps :)
Matt: What 5 songs would we find on your ultimate training mix?
Rachel: At the moment, I would have, call me maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen, Fight for you by Jason Derulo, Boyfriend by Justin Bieber, The way that it goes by Dozzi (awesome Brisbane band) and love on top by Beyonce
Matt: Anything you would like to say to the fans?
Rachel: Just a big thank you for everyone who supports me and the sport of diving. It’s not a very big sport but it’s such a wonderful sport to watch. Thanks!
