How did you become involved your sport?

My father played as well as my older brother so I got dragged around the grounds and decided to play!

Mark Hager, Brent Livermore, Michael McCann, Larry McIntosh

 

Who is your sporting hero?

Lebron James

 

Age you started in your sport?

4yrs of age

23yrs old 79kgs and 179cm

Cert II Retail Operations
Cert III in Fitness and currently studying Cert IV

 

What is the reason you continue to play your sport today/motivation?

Just love to play and the rewards and feeling of holding the medal after a tournament!! And to stay fit and healthy!!

 

What is your current club?

Albion Park Mens Hockey Club

 

People that have inspired you not only in sport but in life aswell?

Just my parents and family with there never say die attitude to keep my head up in the tough times i've had

 

Great experiences that happened in your life?

being able to travel the world doing something i love

 

Your Interests and Hobbies outside of your sport?

going to the beach, socialising with mates and going to the gym!

 

One tip or quote which continues to inspire you?

It's not how big the speed bump is, it's how you overcome it

 

Family Background and current family?

My mum's New Zealand and Dads an Aussie! I have 3 brothers, Hayden 26, Scott 18, Blake 15 and Girlfriend Steph

 

Happiest memory?

Running out for my Debut for the Kookaburras in front of a home crowd and my Family

 

Who did you grow up idolizing?

I just like watching every sport!!

 

Who has been your most influential coach?

I've had a few, all my junior coaches back in NSW and my Club Coaches
Last few years would be Mark Hager, Jason Duff, Larry McIntosh and at present Ric Charlesworth

 

How has playing your sport changed your life?

Well I moved out of home when I was 18 and haven't lived at home since, now I currently live in Perth where the AIS for Hockey is based. Got to learn lifestyle skills earlier then most, and have seen heaps of the world!

 

What is the greatest advice you can pass onto young players?

Basic's are the Key

 

Were you one of the best players growing up?

I wasn't a stand out, I was just lucky I had a Hockey Field 20metres away from my back fence so got to practice everyday after school

 

Training Background(sports, etc)?

At high school I tried to compete at everything, cross country, swimming, athletics, basketball......

 

Favourite Foods/Type of diet you follow?

Chicken Stir Fry I love!!! Have been on the Chicken Broccoli a couple of times! Don't really have a diet just watch what I eat!

 

Favourite Bodypart to Train plus training spilt(training schedule + fav session)

Anything in the gym! haha
We have 6 training sessions a week, 2-3 gym sessions and some of us do Pilates to keep our core strength!!

 

Describe a typical day?

it all depends on what day, we have a different schedule for each day so roughly, have a training session, go to the gym and then home. Our trainings are pretty tough so we are normally really tired by the time we get home!

 

Worst injury you have suffered?

I've had 2 Hip reconstructions already and I'm only 23!!!

 

Sporting/Club History and positions played?

Have played for Albion Park Men's Hockey Club since I was 15 and I am a striker! So try and score the goals!

 

Greatest sporting moment you have had thus far? Achievement to this point?

Winning GOLD and the 2010 World Cup in India

 

Who has been your greatest rival on the field?

There are a few tough opponents, Germany, Holland, Spain anyone in the top 10

 

What is your favourite movie?

Any good action movie... mostly with Jason Statham in them though!

 

What one lesson did you take from your parents?

Don't waste money!

 

How do you deal with temptation?

I can be a sucker for it!!

 

What is your favourite music/band/song?

anything Rock or whatever is in the top 40!

 

What is your biggest fear?

Snakes and being burn't alive!

 

Do you believe "never giving up" is the difference between making it and not making it in any sport?

Of course, I always think of that saying when I'm tired and have to chase that guy with the ball!

 

Have you ever failed at anything? If yes how did you overcome this?

persistence which is like never giving up mentality!

 

What inspired you to succeed?

Knowing that I was so close and always having an injury before I could show what I could do was really frustrating so that just gave me the drive to succeed

 

What did you want to be as a kid growing up?

the best at everything!

 

Typical game day routine?

Good Breakfast
Shower before we leave to the ground
Get strapped up
Listen to Music in the change room
Then Ice baths and a good sleep!

 

What is the ultimate prize for you in your sport and why?

Olympics, It only comes around every 4 yrs and is the biggest tournament in our sport.

 

Your Future Goals in your sport , what are goals after you have finished playing?

Hopefully go to an Olympics or 2, play every Major tournament and to become a Policeman

 

What's the one thing about you few people know?

I'm half Kiwi and I have 6 tattoos!

 

What one item can you not live without?

BSc Protein Shaker!
